Department for Education's new performance tables

The Department for Education (DfE) has released new performance tables which rank all English local authorities on key indicators over the last 3 years on their adoption performance. These are the percentage of looked after children who leave care and are adopted (or who have a special guardianship order made) and the number of children placed within 1 year of the decision that they should be adopted. There are additional indicators for children in care on stability of placements and educational achievement.

The DfE has also published an Adopter’s Charter which sets out what adopters and prospective adopters can expect from adoption agencies.
