Specialist Groups

Hundreds of appropriately qualified or experienced BAAF members have joined our Health, Legal, Scottish Legal and Research Groups.

These groups:

  • Evaluate and comment on new legislation and practice developments
  • Advise BAAF staff, its board of trustees and governments across the UK
  • Encourage best practice and inter-disciplinary working
  • Hold annual meetings and conferences
  • Have regional sub-groups that organise seminars and meetings locally
  • Sponsor training events for their members.
  • Keep their members up to date with developments in their fields
  • Allow members to exchange information and ideas, and offer mutual support

The Health Group is not just for doctors and nurses. The Legal Group is not just for lawyers. BAAF members can join the group if they have experience in the legal or health fields. For example, Children's Guardians and Curators ad Litem may join the Legal Group and relevant academics and therapists without medical qualifications may join the Health Group.
